I’ve always considered myself an adventurous traveler who is eager to learn as much as possible. One of my biggest drives is to discover different cultures and customs in order to have an open mindset about how the world truly works and to get to know the people who live in it. I like to think of myself as a respectful, sociable and responsible person. I really like playing sports mainly basketball and soccer, but I always like playing and trying out new things, such as surfing. I´m really looking forward to trying it out in California! My hobbies include camping, cooking, reading and watching movies! I am a complete cinephile!
I'm 22 years old and am the youngest of three siblings. My family and I are very close, and we love doing things together. Our favorite activity is going out for a meal and traveling together to different countries. I have now lived four countries: The United States, Brazil, Canada and Colombia. Looking back on my life I´m so grateful that I´ve had a chance to live in these diverse places and learn different languages. The reason we´ve moved so much is because of my father’s job; he is a businessman who is always looking for the best opportunities regarding his work situation and our living situation as a family. I have a small mixed breed dog named Bongo; he is 3 years old. He and I are really close and do almost everything together.
Currently I´m studying my last semester of Business Administration at the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá. My family has a small company that works in the Colombian mining industry. Our company processes mineral coal and turns it into metallurgic coke, which is one of the main compounds to make steal alloy. I´ve always tried to help my parents regarding management, information analysis and general office tasks. One of the most important things for me as a person is having a chance to interact with other people especially in a work environment so I can pick up new techniques or strategies that may be useful for my professional career in the future. I like to think I´m a quick learner!
I’ve always wanted to live in California. When I was 14 my family and I traveled to Los Angeles and San Francisco, and I felt very attracted to the state’s beautiful forests and its nice people. I currently live in Bogotá which has over 11 million people, so I imagine that Carlsbad will be a big change but a chance to get away from the big-city-life for a while. I am excited to be by the beach again since I haven’t lived near one since I was little and lived in Miami. My father studied in Southern California in the 80s and has always spoken very highly of its people, institutions and the natural beauty.
I feel very motivated to work in a company like Engel & Völkers because of its size, professionalism and reputation in an international context. Real estate has always interested me because of the dynamic market in which it takes place and because of how important and necessary it is for societies around the world. I also consider that real estate is a business capable of creating high value for many assets for them to be classified and sold accordingly. My goal as an intern is to learn as much as I can about sales and marketing in the company and how these disciplines affect the company’s performance in a positive way. I also want to help the company with any insights I may have about marketing, social media or data storage that may be useful to the company in the future.
