Marilyn O. Griffin
Marilyn Griffin began her real estate career long before she had a license. Her father, DeWayne G. Otteman encouraged all of his children and his wife to obtain their real estate license early on and had his children all work in his real estate practice learning all areas of the business while growing up. Mr. Otteman was a member of the Harlingen Board of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors. He was certified as an accredited land consultant and Accredited Farm Land Manager. He was a member of the Realtors Institute of Texas; Farm and Land Institute; International Real Estate Federation; the Real Estate Aviation Council and Rio Grande Apartment Association. He was elected director of the Texas Association of Realtors, board of realtors in 1971 and also served as vice president in 1973 and president of the board of directors in 1974. Mr. Otteman was president of the Harlingen Board of Realtors in 1974 and governor/liaison of the Farm & Land Institute, 1975-77 and 1979-80. He was publications committee chairman of the Farm & Land Institute, 1977. He was a member of the FLI of Texas Chapter 22, served as vice president of Region 7 in 1976-77; secretary in 1979, first vice president in 1980, and president in 1981-82, and later received an award for Broker of the Year in 1982. He received an outstanding service award in 1986 while serving as regional vice president of the Realtors Land Institute.

Marilyn Otteman Griffin received her license after graduation from Texas Tech University in 1987 where she received a Bachelors of Arts in English and a minor in Business and before starting Law School. Marilyn Griffin graduated from South Texas College of Law, received her Doctorate of Juris Prudence and was licensed to practice in 1992. She worked as an intern for the First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas, and also worked for the Harris County District Attorney's office where she gained valuable trial experience and tried cases with her third year bar card while still in law school. Marilyn Griffin handles cases in all areas of civil, family, probate law, contract and real estate law.
Marilyn Griffin is a licensed Realtor® and is a member of Houston Realtors®, and is now proudly affiliated with Engel & Volkers - Houston. She is also the Managing Partner of Griffin & Griffin, a 20 year Law Firm she opened with her husband, Michael J. Griffin III with whom she has for children.
Mrs. Griffin is certified by the State Bar of Texas as an Ad Litem, and has served in various courts in that capacity. In addition, she has taught trial advocacy to local high school students through the Houston Bar Association. Marilyn Griffin was named one of Houston's Top Lawyers in 2012-2015 by H Texas Magazine.
Marilyn Griffin is also well versed in city laws as she served several terms as a member of the Zoning and Planning Board and is a former councilwoman for the city of West University Place, Texas. She is a Paul Harris member of the Rotary Club of West U and is a life-sustaining member of The Junior League of Houston as well as a member of Leadership Houston Class XXXI.
