Sarah Richards Gansa was raised at Spring Mountain Winery (aka Falcon Crest) in St. Helena
and went to St. Helena schools, graduating from St. Helena High School in 1987. She got her
B.A. degree magna cum laude from Georgetown University in 1991 and received her law degree
from U.C. Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco in 1996. After working in San
Francisco as a lawyer on commercial real estate, land-use, and wine-industry related issues, she
and her architect husband, Andrew, moved to Calistoga in 2004.
Upon returning to the Napa Valley from San Francisco, Sarah worked as in-house counsel for
Kendall Jackson and Chappellet wineries. In 2015, she and Andrew started a business together
developing high-end single-family residential projects in St. Helena and Calistoga through their
company Alla Torre Investments, LLC. For Sarah, this work primarily entails negotiating
private and utilities easements, reviewing county permitting issues, and doing the landscape
design, interior design and staging, for their projects. In 2020, Andrew started an architectural
firm, Mayacamas Architects, with Sarah building the website and spearheading the Marketing
In January 2019, Sarah and her family moved to Florence, Italy for a year and a half. Her
children attended the International School of Florence (ISF) while Sarah volunteered for
Georgetown’s Florentine studies program and took Italian and Art History classes. While in
Italy, Sarah achieved a B2 level of proficiency in Italian and now that she is back stateside, she
continues to work to become fluent in Italian.
Throughout her time in the Napa Valley and San Francisco, Sarah has been consistently involved
in community service projects. In Calistoga, Sarah was a Calistoga Community Pool Project
board member and Governance chair, served on the City of Calistoga’s Pool Advisory
Committee, and was a steering committee member on Calistoga’s successful Measure A school
bond. She founded the “Vamos a Nadar en Familia” family water safety program at Calistoga’s
Community Pool (now in its 10 th year) and wrote and received a $20,000 grant from the Napa
Valley Vintners Association for its start up. In St. Helena, Sarah served as a board member of
the St. Helena Public Schools Foundation and on its GiveBIG! Steering Committee prior to
going to Italy.
Sarah and Andrew live on Diamond Mountain in Calistoga. Her older son Luca attends The
Cate School, a boarding high school near Santa Barbara, CA, and her younger son Renzo attends
Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School in St. Helena.
Sarah specializes in sophisticated luxury real estate and vineyard properties in the Napa Valley.
In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, reading, hiking, playing tennis and practicing Italian.
