The global real estate brand’s newest shop opening in North Carolina’s rustic mountain resort region represents its fifth location in the state
Engel & Völkers today announced the brand’s expansion into Highlands-Cashiers, NC, the brand’s fifth location in the state. Engel & Völkers Highlands Cashiers is a result of a partnership with Old Cashiers Realty, a leading local brokerage founded by Mark and Grace Battle that serves the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. The Battles will serve as the shop’s license partners, while Mike Blaylock will be its managing broker, and Ken Fernandez, bringing 16 years of experience, will serve as the shop’s president.
The Battles’ Highlands-Cashiers real estate team is one of the most successful in the region, having been rated in the top five with regard to volume and revenue. The newly established Engel & Völkers Highlands Cashiers will service home buyers and sellers in the markets of Highlands, Cashiers, Lake Glenville, Sapphire Valley, and Lake Toxaway. Plans for expansion are on the horizon as the Battle team seeks to partner with other firms in establishing Engel & Völkers offices to service the 10 westernmost counties including Buncombe.
“Mark and Grace have cultivated a specialized team of local market real estate experts, all dedicated to a boutique, white-glove approach to client service, ” said Anthony Hitt, president and CEO, Engel & Völkers Americas. “They are collectively the perfect team with which to build our presence in North Carolina. While the region attracts many second-home buyers, due in no small part to its avid culture of golfing and outdoor recreation, the real estate market has been steadily strengthening over the past three years, making the Highlands-Cashiers area a growing market for year-round residency as well.”
Perched on a plateau in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, Highlands-Cashiers offers an impressive array of outdoor recreation activities, ranging from golf to fly fishing. The region’s wealth of natural beauty includes scores of waterfalls, Whiteside Mountain, which boasts the highest cliffs east of the Rocky Mountains, and Lake Glenville, with its expansive 26 miles of shoreline. This natural setting influences the local real estate, which can be characterized as rustic mountain charm with modern luxury. The properties available range from reasonably priced homes with community amenities to grand estates. The climate, considered a temperate rainforest, is as inviting as the local community, with mild winters and moderate summers. These comfortable temperatures and long mountain views, combined with close proximity to Atlanta & Charlotte International Airports, and to Asheville and Greenville regional airports are driving forces for both domestic and international clients coming to the area to escape, unwind and experience a slower pace of life.
“In partnering with Engel & Völkers, our goal is to elevate the real estate experience for buyers, sellers, and agents in our area,” said Mark Battle, CEO Engel & Völkers Highlands Cashiers (Western North Carolina). “Every modern real estate professional understands the need for technology and innovation in an ever-changing global market. Engel & Völkers delivers the gravitas of an internationally recognized luxury real estate brand backed by premier marketing and advertising tools and a robust worldwide referral network, all built on the latest technology. It’s truly a gamechanger for the Highlands-Cashiers market.”
