Global real estate brand further expands Lake Tahoe presence with fifth area shop opening

Engel & Völkers today announced its newest location opening in Reno, Nevada. The shop is led by managing broker Jen McDonald, one of northern Nevada’s leading luxury real estate professionals with more than 30 years of real estate sales and management experience in the Greater Reno area. Paul Benson will serve as license partner, further expanding his ownership portfolio of 25 Engel & Völkers shops located in Utah, California and Nevada. Under McDonald’s leadership, Engel & Völkers Reno will service the Reno Metropolitan Area, including the markets of Carson City, Gardnerville, Sparks, Verdi and Mogul.

“The real estate market in Northern Nevada is healthy and thriving, and home values in Reno are soaring,” said Anthony Hitt, president and CEO, Engel & Völkers Americas. “As the area continues to boom, in terms of residents, jobs, housing and more, I am confident in Paul and Jen’s ability to lead our brand’s presence here. Jen’s proven track record in the Northern Nevada real estate market, Paul’s business acumen and vast global connections, and their collective commitment to upholding the highest standards of service is an unbeatable combination that is sure to result in unmatched luxury client experiences.”

During her real estate career, McDonald was an exclusive developer sales agent for Caughlin Ranch, ArrowCreek and Manzanita West. She has served as the Director of Business Development Northern Nevada for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Broker/Branch Manager for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee, Certified Mediator and Ombudsman for the Reno/Sparks Association of REALTORS® and as a Continuing Education Real Estate Instructor for the State of Nevada. In the community, McDonald has volunteered her time as the 2016-2017 Vice President for the Caughlin Ranch Elementary PTA and the 2016 Cheer Area Coordinator for the Reno Huskies Sierra Youth Football League.

“This recent announcement is part of my growth strategy to build my ownership base of Engel & Völkers shops that serve as direct feeder markets to each other, setting us up for very fluid communications, collaboration and referral opportunities,” said Benson. “With existing Engel & Völkers shop locations serving the nearby markets of Truckee, Truckee-Donner, Incline Village and Lake Tahoe, we’ve recognized Reno’s changing business landscape as well as the demographics of area home buyers and sellers. It is becoming a true hub for luxury buyers and sellers across the world, and Jen is the ideal person to be leading our expansion in this market. Her local market expertise and ability to attract and mentor top real estate talent is unmatched and will undoubtedly raise the bar for luxury client service in Reno.”

Engel & Völkers Reno is located in the heart of the city’s business district, which has seen exponential growth over the past five years as companies from around the world flock to the area for its business-friendly climate. A 30-minute drive from Lake Tahoe, Reno also offers residents a quick escape to skiing, snowboarding, swimming and boating year-round in the scenic, natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The housing market here is comprised largely of single family homes and condos, the supply of which is tightening with the influx of new residents.

“Reno is in the midst of an extreme period of growth,” said McDonald. “Global companies are increasingly laying down roots here, bringing with them new job opportunities as well as employees from around the U.S. and other countries. As the housing market evolves and clientele diversify, Engel & Völkers’ distinct approach to luxury client service and truly interconnected global network are what the market needs, both for real estate professionals looking to reach their full potential as well as home buyers and sellers in the area looking for their dream home.”
