About

James (Jim) Warjone is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of Port Blakely Companies. He was CEO/Chairman of the Board prior to retiring from this privately held company which owns significant land and timber and and real estate and operate in the US and New Zealand.

Prior to his career at Port Blakely, Jim worked for Simpson Timber Company, Interface Mechanisms, IBM and he co-owned and operated the Truckweld Equipment Company.

During his 32 year tenure at Port Blakely, Jim led the drive to develop new economic opportunities and strengthen strategic and political relationships locally, nationally and globally for the Port Blakely Companies.

Jim was the driving force behind the original land purchase and development of what is now the thriving community of Issaquah Highlands just east of Seattle and now part of the City of Issaquah.

In 1993, he directed the initiative to diversify the Company’s forestry land by forming a new international subsidiary, Blakely Pacific Ltd. Based in New Zealand, Blakely Pacific owns and manages forest land on New Zealand’s North and South Islands.

Jim partnered with two other firms in 2008 to found a new industry association, the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO). The Alliance represents more than 66 million acres of private forests across the nation and was formed to advocate for private forest owners on Capitol Hill.

Jim served on the board of the Washington Business Roundtable (past chair), The Pacific Science Center (past chair and director emeritus) as well as the boards of several private and public companies. Currently he is the Chairman of two family company Boards and serves as an governance resource to several other companies.

Jim and Christine, his wife and business partner, co-founded Engel and Völkers Seattle-Eastside with the help of their son-in-law, Mathew Bogue in 2017. This firm currently has offices in Seattle and on Mercer Island They plan to expand into Bellevue as they add to their highly skilled team of global real estate professionals.

Jim is currently leading the formation of a start up in the affordable housing industry.


Jim was born in Virginia and grew up in southern California. He received a BS degree in economics from Claremont Men’s College (now Claremont McKenna College) in 1965. He is married and lives with his wife and partner of 27 years, and they live in Sun Valley, Idaho after each living 41 years in Seattle.
