I was fortunate to grow up in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles and in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where both my parents were real estate agents. I followed their lead, deciding that real estate was going to be my profession, and purchased my first income property when I was 20 years old.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from San Diego State University, then an MBA in Real Estate from National University, followed by a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), focusing on commercial-investment real estate brokerages, from United States International University. I have taught real estate courses as an adjunct professor at Sweetwater College, San Diego City College, Palomar College, National University (Real Estate Department Chair), and United States International University. I have been certified since 1981 in the highest investment designation (Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM)) by the National Association of REALTORS, have chaired many committees within the local and national REALTOR associations, and have directed and/or founded companies that built office buildings and developed land ranging from a single commercial building lot up to a 1,500 acre Master Planned Community.
Since 1970, I have completed many hundreds of real estate transactions, with virtually every type of real estate investment property, and adhered to my father’s commitment to “go way beyond what is required” in real estate brokerage. As a Real Estate Broker representing people who are buying or selling a home or investment property, I am often working with them on the single largest investment they make, and it is my honor to help them through it.
I joined Engel & Völkers because of its preeminent cooperative community of over 11,000 Real Estate Advisors worldwide in over 35 countries, and it is my goal to use this to provide comprehensive service for local, national, and international investors.
In my leisure time you might find me sailing, golfing, traveling cross-country, or driving my Corvette at Corvette runs. My wife Carol (also a REALTOR, specializing in equestrian properties) and I have four children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. We love spending time with them and our pets (mostly adopted): two dogs (a Golden Retriever and a Lhasa Apso), two cats, and a Hunter/Jumper horse named Hercules. We enjoy all that North County San Diego has to offer, from the ocean to the desert, and from the forests and canyons to the San Diego Fairground and Del Mar Racetrack. It’s a great place to live and work, and I would love to help you find your place in it too.
