E&V Exclusive Listings

Celebrity Chef Tory McPhail’s New Orleans Home

Celebrity chef Tory McPhail of Commander’s Palace, a famed restaurant in New Orleans, listed his two-story home in the heart of the city for $1.5 million with Doug Rodick of Engel & Völkers New Orleans Metairie. Mr. McPhail, 30, who won the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef in 2013, and his wife, Britt, bought the land for $280,000 in 2018 and had the house custom-built, and were personally involved in most of the designs.

The 2,480-square-foot residence has three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, featuring white-washed oak flooring and 17-foot vaulted ceilings. Outside, it has balconies, a cocktail pool, a pool house, and a two-car garage, which is a rare find in the neighborhood. One of the standout features of the house, to no surprise, is the chef’s kitchen, which has an eight-person counter seating, a built-in banquette (dining bench), Viking appliances, and wall storage for more than 400 bottles of wine.

Rita and Bob Marley’s Bahamas Home

Rita Marley, the widow of the late music legend Bob Marley, listed her historic Bahamas home for $980,000 with the Andrews Group of Engel & Völkers Bahamas for $980,000.

The home, called “La Randa,” was built in 1920 by a rum runner during prohibition and featured a since-blocked off tunnel running from the basement to the sea, according to a release. In addition to its historic beginnings, La Randa was one of the few homes in the area left intact following the Great Hurricane of 1929.

Her three-bed, three-bath home has several of its original features, including the ceramic tiles and wood floors. There’s a living area that connects to a dining room, as well as an updated kitchen and a backyard with a swimming pool and garden. The property also has a one-bedroom guest cottage and the purchase includes a two-year membership to Nassau’s Palm Cay Beach Club.

Cher’s Former Miami Mansion

This iconic estate, formerly owned by Cher and located in the exclusive and gated La Gorce Island, is the epitome of luxury living and now officially available for $22 million, listed with Lourdes Alatriste of Engel & Völkers Miami Coconut Grove. The posh Miami estate was a nice former investment for the famed singer-songwriter, who nearly tripled her money in the mid-’90s, buying it for $1.5 million in 1993 and selling it three years later for $4.35 million.

Today, the property holds an 11,460 square-foot home surrounded by courtyards, fountains, and manicured lawns. A grand two-story foyer with dual staircases kicks things off, leading to column-lined living spaces with whitewashed ceilings, tile floors, and arched doorways. A wood-and-marble buffet anchors the dining room, and other highlights include an office, media room, game room, gym, and wet bar. Six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms are spread across three stories, and the master suite opens to one of the multiple decks on the back of the home. Outback, loggias lined with Saltillo tile open to a lap pool, spa, and private dock with 158 feet of water frontage, and a nearby guesthouse completes the property.
