EVX brought over 1,300 Engel & Völkers Americas network members together in person for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. This year’s EVX theme was UNLOCKED, nodding to the endless potential we all found in ourselves over the last two years. This marquee event served as a greatly anticipated reunion for our real estate advisors, license partners and staff and featured powerhouse speakers, networking opportunities and insights from some of the real estate industry’s best.
In true Vegas style, the event began with a procession of light-up LED drummers who marched through the theater packed with attendees excited for the annual event.
After a short performance on stage, Anthony Hitt, president and CEO of Engel & Völkers Americas, revealed that he was amongst the marching drummers.
After his exciting entrance, Hitt kicked off day one with a 2021 recap, sharing impressive numbers and results from the Americas network, most notably that the Americas accounted for over one-third of the global brand’s GCI in 2021—the brand’s strongest year on record.
He was later joined by Sven Odia, global CEO of Engel & Völkers, for a discussion about the brand’s future.
Following updates from Anthony Hitt and Sven Odia, the audience heard from representatives in senior leadership and shop leadership roles, as well as internal experts in brand, marketing, and yachting.
Next, mainstage hosted a panel of former professional athletes who have taken lessons from their training and competitive experiences and turned them into success in their real estate careers. Adam Lerman, SVP Engagement Engel & Völkers Americas, was joined on main stage by Jenni Hogan, Engel & Völkers Park City, Lewis Ratcliff, Engel & Völkers Vancouver, Corey Hasting, Engel & Völkers Jacksonville, and Jim Bruske, Engel & Völkers Scottsdale. Each of these advisors shared how, similar to their athletic careers, Engel & Völkers Americas provides a collaborative network that encourages teamwork.

To discuss the expansion of Engel & Völkers Yachting in the US, Katelyn Castellano, SVP, Marketing, was joined on stage by Walter Johnson and Leeann Iacino of Engel & Völkers Yachting Americas. The three presented to the audience the unique value proposition and business benefits of our association with a yachting sales company, inclusive of cross-marketing, referrals and growth.
Ann Renée Miciak, VP, Learning & Development Engel & Völkers Americas, then joined the mainstage with a vibrant group of network advisors, who shared their Best Secrets Worth Telling. Highlights include Martha Melendez, Engel & Völkers Melbourne Beach, who reminded the audience of the value of the people sitting in the room. She spoke to the expansive, connected network and the power behind it.
Monday’s speaker agenda concluded with keynote speaker, Phil M. Jones, who shared his insights on the magic words for influence and impact.

Following an action-packed day with incredible speakers on the main stage, guests transitioned to the Opening Night event. Dressed to the nines in brand colors guests gathered at The Boulevard Rooftop Pool overlooking the Las Vegas Strip for a night of eating, networking and entertainment. Highlights of the night included a spontaneous, synchronized aquatic dance, also known as a ‘splash mob’ and several special entrances by guests with extravagant attire.
Day two of EVX began bright and early with a discussion between MIT Real Estate Innovation Lab’s Head of Industry Relations, Steve Weikal, and Anthony Hitt. The pair focused heavily on data science, specifically how we can better understand data to draw better conclusions and, ultimately, make better decisions. Weikal emphasized the quantity of data available in the digital environment. Data that can be investigated to create efficiencies and a deep understanding of client motivations.
The program then transitioned to RED talks by various experts, inclusive of authorities in videography, real estate marketing, LGBTQ+ homeowners, second home trends and interior design. The talks touched on a variety of topics, ensuring attendees left Tuesday’s general session with holistic, actionable, takeaways that they could implement in their real estate strategies.
Before the event’s final keynote took the stage, attendees heard from David Ashcroft, Managing Director At Platinum Luxury Auctions. Ashcroft introduced the auction concept before sitting down with Executive Vice President of Engel & Völkers Americas, Stuart Siegel, for a conversation about real estate auction’s role in an inventory-starved marketplace. While Engel & Völkers focuses on traditional listings and sales, the auction process provides strong guidelines to ensure money isn’t left on the table.
Tuesday’s general session was closed by an inspiring keynote address from J.R. Martinez, a bestselling author, motivational speaker, advocate, U.S. Army veteran, and actor. While deployed in Iraq, Martinez was driving when he hit a roadside bomb and became trapped in his burning vehicle. During his address, Martinez spoke to the power of optimism and resilience when we are, inevitably, faced with adversity.

Throughout Tuesday afternoon, attendees had the opportunity to attend a variety of breakout sessions, with topics ranging from developments to listing descriptions and social media strategy. Favorite sessions included How to Nail Your Instagram Reels and TikTok Strategy, How to Get More Listings from Social Media and advisor panels like Increasing Your Productivity and Selling Yourself.
EVX 2022 concluded with The Awards Dinner, The EVA Awards, and the infamous After Party. During The Awards Dinner, entertainment included a champagne tower featuring an elevated Vegas-inspired performer.
Afterward, the network headed back to The Chelsea to celebrate individual, shop and team achievements. Engel & Völkers Ottawa Central was awarded the company’s highest honor, The Engel & Völkers Cup, which is given each year to the shop that successfully demonstrates a clear commitment to the systems, tools, marketing programs and shop concept associated with Engel & Völkers while being a leader in the local marketplace and brand network.
Once the cup had been awarded, the DJ had one message for attendees:
In celebration of their achievements, guests did just that. A DJ played crowd-pleasers, old and new. Entertainers dressed in mirrored costumes joined guests on the dance floor wandering on stilts and rolling through the crowds balanced on large silver spheres.
Together at last, our network enjoyed one final evening of Vegas-style entertainment before returning home to cities and neighborhoods across the Americas. But you know what they say, what happens in Vegas…
Needless to say, we are greatly anticipating next year’s event; EVX 2023 will be held from March 12-14, 2023, at the Fontainebleau in Miami, Florida. We look forward to another incredible experience with the best network in the industry.
